How to get to the
SIX Convention Point

From Zurich main station (Zürich HB) take tram line 4, direction Altstetten. Coming from the station in Altstetten, take tram line 4, direction Tiefenbrunnen. From either direction get off at Sportweg. The SIX ConventionPoint is situated within the SIX building next to the tram stop.

The highway connections are a few minutes drive from the SIX ConventionPoint. There is a public pay parking at the Hard Turm Park garage, to be entered via Pfingstweidstrasse. In the garage follow the signs to building 110/SIX.

From Zurich airport to the SIX ConventionPoint it is approximately 20 minutes by Taxi. If you prefer public transport, take one of the trains to Zurich Hardbrücke. From there tram line 4 direction Altstetten takes you directly to the SIX ConventionPoint. Get off at Sportweg.

You can find 3-4 hotel next to the venue that we can recommend, i.e., Sheraton Zurich, 25hours Hotel, Novotel, and Ibis Zurich West.

Sheraton Zurich Hotel is the partner of IoT Business Hub and is perfectly located to the IoT Inspire Zurich event venue. A 2 min walk separates the hotel rooms from the Six Convention Point. You can book your room directly through booking.com or the website of the hotel.

Prior to her current role, she worked as a product manager for digital solutions at ABB. Her favorite topics include AI, IoT and sustainability. Aurelien Goutorbe

Aurelien Goutorbe drives multiple Cross solutions initiatives at Microsoft enabling customers to unlock the benefit of Industry 4.0 by focusing on business outcomes. He is the EMEA sales lead for Building Energy Management solutions and advises startups in the field of IoT. Previously, he was part of the Microsoft IoT sales team working with a global ecosystem of partners and leading projects in Manufacturing and Healthcare.

Before joining Microsoft, he spent 3 years at the World Economic Forum where he engaged with thought leaders from the public and private sectors to support the digitalization of our society. He did the first part of his career at Texas Instruments and Sagem, as product and sales manager.

Roelof Koopmans

Roelof Koopmans has 25 years experience in founding and managing startup tech companies in eCommerce, Hosting and IoT business. Before 2000 Roelof was in several management positions in the telco business, primarily Swisscom and KPN Telecom. In 2000 he became founder and CEO of Aspectra AG in Zürich, the first dedicated hosting company in Switzerland. After that he was during 10 years part of the management team of MOJIX Inc., a US based RFID tracking solution provider, and responsible for Sales in Europe. From 2018 through 2023 he was responsible for SEMTECH’s LoRa global partner business. Since earlier this year Roelof has joined Dracula Technologies helping to expand their unique energy harvesting technology into the IoT space. Roelof is a graduate of the Technical University of Delft (NL), living in Switzerland since 1993, and married with one daughter.

Tejas Madan

Tejas Madan is an ABPM certified, knowledgeable and result-oriented Business Director with 11+ years of strong business development, marketing, & technical skills. Thomas is a trained computer scientist and holds also a Bachelor’s degree in business informatics. For the past 10 years, Thomas Hofmann has worked at the interface between the logistics business and IT. Be it as a software architect for business applications like shipment redirection or as a business analyst for smart p.o. boxes – for Thomas, the focus of his work has always been on business value. Thomas works as an Enterprise Architect Logistics at Swiss Post and is the lead architect for the largest digitization program in recent years. Thomas Brunner

Thomas Brunner completed his master’s degree in electrical engineering at ETH Zurich in 2018. During his master thesis, he worked on ultra-low power IoT devices and continued his work at ETH as a research assistant in the Integrated Systems Laboratory.

In 2019, Thomas Brunner joined Miromico AG as an embedded firmware engineer and put his knowledge into practice by developing embedded devices, especially using LoRaWan technology.

After two years at Miromico AG, Thomas Brunner became a project manager, where he was tasked with overseeing the implementation and success of various projects. This role gave him valuable insight into the entire project lifecycle, from conception to mass production.

In December 2022, Thomas Brunner was promoted to the role of software team leader, where he is responsible for organising, leading and ensuring the success of his team.

Fabien Jordan

Fabien Jordan is Founder and CEO of Astrocast, a leading Satellite IoT service that enables asset tracking and two-way communications in remote areas of the world. Jordan is widely recognized for his work on SwissCube, the longest operating nanosatellite. He also worked as Technical Manager at the Space Exploration Institute in Neuchâtel, where he contributed to the design of two scientific instruments of the ESA ExoMars Rover Mission. Previously, he was Electrical System Engineer at the Swiss Space Center EPFL.
Thanks to his 15-year experience in space systems engineering and his early involvement in the CubeSat community, he became convinced that nanosatellite constellations would disrupt specific segments of the satellite industry and saw the NewSpace revolution coming. In 2014, together with an international team of experts from both the space and telecom industries, he developed a strong business model to provide global, direct-tosatellite Internet-of-Things (IoT) communications. Leveraging the industry-leading performance of Astrocast’s L-band IoT network, Fabien successfully positioned the first Swiss satellite operator as a front runner. Pascal Nussbaum has graduated as an Electronic Engineer in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He joigned CSEM in 1990 where he has been successively involved in IC design tools development, digital and mixed-mode IC design, CMOS imagers and embedded vision/AI systems. He participated in 2 startups respectively focused on mobile phones for cognitively impaired people and vision sensors for buildings surveillance and automation. Pascal has also been active in the toys and digital television industries and currently leads the Smart Connected Systems group at CSEM, with a focus on sustainable electronics and wireless power transfer (WPT).

A Vision of Sustainability at 2000 Meters

Born in Dar-Es Salam, Tansania, Raised up in Pfäffikon Zürich, Indonesia Singapore and Basel he has seen a lot from his early age on. Gymnasium in Basel, Studies at ETH Zürich as Mechanical engineer, internship at Bosch in Germany and Civil Service in Zanzibar led 2013 to the current employer Gritec AG in Graubünden. Starting as an mechanical engineer, bringing ideas to life was one of his passion at work. This was intensified when he joined the Board of managers as Teamleader Innovation. He helped to develop that business unit to what it is now. Starting with only himself the team now consists out of 7 people. To stay true to his passion at work and have time for his family with two wonderful daughers he passed the Lead of the business unit on to his colleague and is now again working as Leader Innovation, helping to bring ideas to life in many different industries from Medical Devices to classic industrial automation, Always striving to find the best solution for the problem at hand.

Raphael Wirz

Raphael Wirz is Product Manager for IoT at Swissphone Wireless AG, a leading provider in alerting and critical incident management. He is responsible for further developing the portfolio for IoT solutions. Raphael holds a master’s degree in Management, Technology, Economics from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. In the mioty alliance Raphael is member of the Business Development Committee.

Anand Verma

Anand verma is the founder and CEO of Perovskia Solar AG. Perovskia is a spin-off of Empa, Switzerland, and provides custom design solar cells for IoT and consumer electronic devices.

He is a printed electronics expert with more than 12 years of international experience in working with research centers, industry, and startups. He is (co-)author of more than 15 peer-reviewed scientific publications and patents.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Studer

Welcome Talk

Christoph Studer received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in 2009. In 2005, he was a Visiting Researcher with the Smart Antennas Research Group at Stanford University. From 2006 to 2009, he was a Research Assistant in both the Integrated Systems Laboratory and the Communication Technology Laboratory (CTL) at ETH Zurich. From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Studer was a Postdoctoral Researcher at CTL, ETH Zurich, and the Digital Signal Processing Group at Rice University. In 2013, he has held the position of Research Scientist at Rice University. From 2014 to 2019, he was an Assistant Professor at Cornell University. From 2019 to 2020, he was an Associate Professor at Cornell University and at Cornell Tech in New York City. Since June 2020, Dr. Studer is an Associate Professor with the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Since 2014, he is also an Adjunct Professor at Rice University.

Wouter Kok

Wouter Kok is the Chief Commercial Officer of bGrid and an expert in the field of intelligent buildings. He has been leading bGrid from its initial conception up to its current international scale-up phase. He combines technical understanding, with sound business and leadership skills. Through two decades of experience in building technology consultancy as a strategic consultant and director, he unifies Internet of Things and the building industry with solid business principles. He holds master degrees in aerospace engineering and management consultancy.

Markus Müggler is ICT Architecture at Flughafen Zurich and is responsible for ICT coordination of major projects such as renovation of Dock A, new tower, “The Circle”, Development of the ITSM program, and program management of Smart Airport City.

Schekeb Fateh

Schekeb Fateh received the Ph.D. degree in Microelectronics from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in 2015. From 2009 to 2015, he was working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Q. Huang, where he was leading a group of system and design engineers to develop VLSI circuits and systems for wearable healthcare devices where his research was funded by Nano-Tera.ch and SNF.
In 2015, he started to lead the R&D of the fabless semiconductor SME ACP AG which is specialised in cellular communications chipsets in particular for the Chinese market. In 2017, he has started to work in the position of Business Bevelopment for the hardware design consulting company Miromico which is specialised on hardware design services and high-end IoT products. In 2021, he has started to work as Chief Executive Officer at Miromico.

Simon Künzli

Simon Künzli obtained his master’s degree in electrical engineering and information technology in 02/2001, and his PhD in computer engineering in 05/2006, both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). From 2006 – 2022, he was with Siemens Smart Infrastructures Building Products working in various positions within R&D for Fire Safety & Security products. Since 2022, he has been with Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) as a senior lecturer for secure IoT systems, heading the research group IoT at the Institute of Embedded Systems (InES).

Head of Self-Powered Radio Systems

Josef Bernhard

Josef Bernhard is working at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Nuremberg, where he is heading the department for self-powered radio systems. He studied electronics engineering at the university of Erlangen-Nuremberg with focus on radio frequency systems. He was involved in many research and development activities ranging from satellite communication to short-range wireless systems. He is an expert for RFID and Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN).

Since many years, he is also actively involved in standardization activities for wireless communication technologies and was rapporteur for the ETSI LTN radio protocol specification. He is one of the inventor of the TS-UNB radio protocol, which is the baseline of mioty. He is chair of the technical committee of the mioty alliance.
